Union Minister lays foundation for multiple manufacturing units in Telangana

Last week Union Minister for Railways, Electronics, IT and Information & Broadcasting, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw laid the foundation stone for four manufacturing units at the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster at Divitipally, Mahabubnagar Dsitrict in Telangana. The Electronics Manufacturing Cluster in Divitipally was set up by the Telangana government under the EMC-2.0 Scheme to promote electronics manufacturing in the State.
As part of the ceremony, Amara Raja laid the foundation stone for its upcoming Giga Factory-1, Lohum held its ground-breaking ceremony for its critical minerals refining and battery recycling, Scell Energy held its ground-breaking ceremony for its cell casing manufacturing, and Altmin laid the foundation stone for its first LFP-CAM Giga Factory.
The foundation stone laying ceremony was graced by the Hon’ble Minister for IT, Electronics, Industries and Commerce, Legislative Affairs in Telangana Government Shri D. Sridhar Babu, Hon’ble Member of Parliament from Mahbubnagar Constituency Smt. Aruna D K, and the Member of Legislative Assembly Shri. Y Srinivas Reddy. Senior officials from the State government and industry representatives were also present along with Mr. Jayadev Galla, Chairman & Managing Director, Amara Raja Energy and Mobility Ltd.

ARACT had signed an MOU with the Telangana Government in 2022 to set up Amara Raja Giga Corridor where the company will set up Lithium Cell and Battery Pack Manufacturing facilities with capacities of up to 16 GWh and 5GWh respectively for Indian and International markets. Once operational, the project is expected to create direct employment for 4,500 people and a similar number of indirect jobs in the State, making significant contributions to the socio-economic development of the region.
Praising the development work at Divitipally, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw said, “The battery technology is as essential for India’s economy as steel and chemical, and It is heartening to see Amara Raja taking a lead in this space. The Union government is committed to the all-round growth of the sector and Divitipally region and will contribute further through modernization of railway station and establishing allied infrastructure. The Centre has committed over Rs 5,000 crore for State’s railway development.”
Shri D Sridhar Babu, State Minister for Industries said, “Telangana is committed to be the Industrial hub and has been a leader in adopting sustainability. The state government is committed to extending support to manufacturing initiatives such as these and we look forward to Giga Factory’s inauguration.
