Uber invests and partners with Wayve for autonomous driving tech
Wayve co-founded by Amar Shah, Alex Kendall, and Boris Sofman in 2017, develops autonomous vehicles technology. Through strategic partnerships Wayve jointly develops and market tailored autonomous driving products. It has been deploying autonomous vehicles on public roads.
So far, Wayve has received funding of over $1 billion in investments from SoftBank and others. Recently it secured strategic investments from Uber in August 2024, to further advancements in self-driving technologies. Apparently, it seems that Uber is interested in Wayve’s advanced AI technology and expertise in embodied intelligence for autonomous driving.
Embodied intelligence refers to a concept in artificial intelligence and robotics where intelligence is achieved through interactions between an agent – such as a robot or autonomous vehicle – and its environment .
