Toyota unveils next-gen multimedia system — debuts in 2026 RAV4
Press Release, 14 October 2025
Toyota is rolling out an upgraded Toyota Audio Multimedia platform, debuting first in the 2026 RAV4, before gradually appearing across its model line. The new system introduces 5G connectivity (in partnership with AT&T), enhanced user experience features, and tighter integration with the digital gauge cluster and vehicle systems.
Inside the revamped interface, drivers will find a smartphone-style home screen with customizable widgets for navigation, audio, weather, and vehicle settings. The “Hey Toyota” voice assistant is now embedded on the device itself, leading to faster, more responsive interactions without always relying on cloud connections. Native navigation can now appear full screen in the instrument cluster, offering turn-by-turn directions directly within the driver’s line of sight.
Other highlights include a built-in Drive Recorder that uses exterior cameras to capture events without needing a separate dash-cam, and expanded entertainment support via SiriusXM 360L® and integrated streaming with Spotify. Toyota also introduces an EV Domain interface for PHEVs — helping drivers manage charging schedules, routing, and battery status seamlessly.
Under the hood, the system still runs on Automotive Grade Linux, supported by Toyota’s Arene software platform, enabling future over-the-air updates and ongoing feature enhancements. Toyota says this upgraded multimedia experience reflects its push toward more connected, software-defined vehicles that deliver consistent improvement over time.
