Tesla to recruit drivers to test autopilot and FSD

News, 4 June 2025

Tesla is making official strides toward entering the Indian market by advertising job openings for prototype vehicle operators in New Delhi and Mumbai. These positions are essential for testing the company’s cutting-edge Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) technologies on Indian roads.

The electric vehicle leader is looking for candidates to join its vehicle data collection team. The job entails operating an engineering vehicle for five to eight hours each day, gathering dynamic audio and camera data to aid in the training and validation of Tesla’s autonomous driving systems.

According to Tesla’s recruitment announcement, the position demands considerable flexibility, meticulous attention to detail, exceptional driving skills, and the capacity to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic setting.

Candidates should have knowledge of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Driving Systems (ADS). Key responsibilities include activating and deactivating data recording tools, assessing data quality, and providing feedback to enhance testing procedures.

Tesla’s Autopilot is an ADAS platform that delivers advanced driving assistance features, such as automatic lane changes and turns, all under human oversight. Meanwhile, the FSD system, which is still in supervised mode, allows vehicles to perform most driving tasks autonomously.

All Tesla vehicles come equipped with multiple external cameras and utilize Tesla Vision, a camera-based system that replaces radar, to enable Autopilot capabilities.

As Tesla prepares for its much-anticipated launch in India, this recruitment initiative represents a significant step toward tailoring its technologies to align with the country’s distinct road conditions.
