Telematics leader partners with credit-data giant for drivers portable safe-driving scores

Press Release, 20 October 2025

Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT) and TransUnion announced a strategic collaboration designed to put more power in the hands of everyday drivers by introducing portable “consumer driving scores.” These scores allow motorists to effectively carry their driving behaviour data — gaining visibility into how they drive and specifically enabling them to use that information when shopping for insurance. In the new setup, drivers can view real-time feedback on their habits, take steps to improve, and show insurers a verified safe-driving profile from the very first quote.

For insurers, the alliance offers a major advance: rather than waiting for a driver to enroll in a telematics programme and complete a trial period, insurers can now access an instant view of a driver’s risk profile. CMT brings its global telematics reach (measuring and improving driving behaviour for millions of drivers across 25 countries) and TransUnion provides the consumer data-management backbone and the regulatory framework under which the scores operate (including alignment with the Fair Credit Reporting Act in the US). What emerges is a model where safe driving becomes a lasting benefit, rather than a limited-time promotion — offering lower costs for consumers, clearer risk insights for insurers, and potentially safer roads for everyone.
