Hyderabad has taken a significant step towards revolutionizing transportation as it inaugurated a state-of-the-art Center of Excellence (CoE) dedicated to new mobility solutions. As part of a strategic partnership between the Telangana government, Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS) Pilani Hyderabad, and the auto parts company Mobis India, a center of excellence (CoE) for new mobility will be established in Hyderabad.
The CoE aims to foster innovation and collaboration among industry stakeholders to develop cutting-edge technologies and infrastructure for future transportation in the city. The CoE, established in partnership with various public and private entities, including government agencies, research institutions, and technology companies, will serve as a hub for research, development, and testing of emerging mobility solutions. It seeks to accelerate the adoption of sustainable and intelligent transportation systems that can address the city’s growing mobility challenges while reducing congestion, pollution, and reliance on traditional fossil-fuel vehicles.
The inauguration ceremony, graced by prominent government officials and industry leaders, highlighted the significance of the CoE in shaping Hyderabad’s mobility landscape. The center is expected to serve as a catalyst for attracting investments in the mobility sector, fostering start-up growth, and creating job opportunities for the local population.
The CoE’s focus areas include electric vehicles (EVs), autonomous driving, smart infrastructure, connectivity, and mobility-as-a-service (MaaS) platforms. By bringing together key stakeholders, such as automakers, technology providers, urban planners, and policymakers, the center aims to facilitate knowledge exchange, collaboration, and innovation to develop practical and scalable solutions.
Additionally, the center will foster research and development of autonomous vehicles and related technologies, contributing to the advancement of safe and efficient self-driving solutions. The CoE’s launch comes at a time when cities worldwide are embracing innovative mobility solutions to address the challenges of urbanization and sustainability. Hyderabad’s commitment to creating a world-class ecosystem for new mobility further solidifies its position as a leading city for technological advancements and sets the stage for a future characterized by intelligent and sustainable transportation.
