TDK invests $21m to power Ultraviolette’s global push
News, 13 August 2025
Bengaluru-based electric motorcycle maker Ultraviolette Automotive has secured $21 million in fresh funding—led by TDK Ventures—to scale its international footprint. The investment fuels plans to amplify model offerings, ramp up production, and debut across new global markets, reinforcing India’s rise in high-performance EV mobility.
Ultraviolette Automotive, founded by childhood friends and engineers Narayan Subramaniam and Niraj Rajmohan, is reimagining the electric motorcycle segment by blending performance, design, and smart tech. With the successful rollout of high-spec machines like the F77 Mach 2 and F77 SuperStreet across 10 European markets, the company now inches closer to becoming a global player.
This latest $21M injection led by TDK Ventures marks a major step forward. The Japanese deep-tech investor brings more than capital—it offers strategic support in areas like battery innovation, power electronics, sensor tech, and rider assistance systems, bolstering Ultraviolette’s edge in intelligent vehicle systems.
Beyond Europe, Ultraviolette has its sights set on Latin America and Southeast Asia, all while planning to expand its model lineup to 14 by early 2027—up from two. A massive boost in manufacturing is also underway: current capacity stands at around 30,000 units per year, with aggressive scaling goals to hit 300,000 units.
Inside the bikes, tech enthusiasts will appreciate features like eSIM connectivity, predictive maintenance diagnostics, app integration, and high-performance drivetrains—a blend of hardware precision and software intelligence. All development—battery management, motor control, diagnostics—is handled in-house, adding to the engineering prowess of the team.
This nearly $75 million in cumulative funding, with backers such as Zoho, Lingotto (Exor), Qualcomm Ventures and TVS, has laid the foundation for Ultraviolette’s evolution from a domestic disruptor to a global innovator.
Ultraviolette’s move reshapes the EV motorcycle landscape, proving India can deliver premium, tech-loaded, performance EVs that rival global alternatives. The TDK partnership signals increasing investor confidence in deep-tech synergies and positions Ultraviolette to accelerate the electrification of two-wheelers worldwide. As they scale manufacturing and enter new markets, this bold expansion could redefine brand-led differentiation and innovation in the EV ecosystem.
