Tata Technologies to provide upskilling and reskilling in automotive with ARAI
Tata Technologies, on 21st Feb’23 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) to jointly develop certification programs and courses through Tata Technologies’ e-learning Platform, i GET IT (www.myigetit.com). This partnership aims to provide certification programs for upskilling and reskilling of students and working professionals in the automotive industry.
As the shift towards electric vehicles (EV) continues, the automotive industry faces an urgent need for continuous upskilling and reskilling. The industry requires new skills in EV technologies and components, such as motors, inverters, converters, batteries, battery management systems (BMS), embedded systems, power electronics, system modelling and simulation, and safety. Additionally, skill sets and capabilities in emerging areas such as ADAS, fuel cell technologies and cybersecurity are in high demand. However, traditional learning methods no longer seem sufficient to keep pace with the rapidly evolving needs of the industry.
To help address this challenge, Tata Technologies’ e-Learning platform, I GET IT, provides flexible and accessible education, which we believe will play a critical role in upskilling and reskilling. Tata Technologies and ARAI are joining forces to develop joint certification programs that combine both organizations’ deep automotive domain knowledge. These programs will be offered through i GET IT, along with classroom and experiential learning, providing a comprehensive learning experience for all learners and organizations, including OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, universities, colleges and individuals requiring these training and certifications.
Tata Technologies’ e-Learning platform, i GET IT, aims to harness and disseminate ARAI’s vast knowledge and experiences gained from various research and development (“R&D”) projects to global learners. i GET IT is designed by Tata Technologies engineers leveraging three decades of engineering and manufacturing domain knowledge and has a rich library of more than 2,000 mechanical computer aided design (MCAD)/product lifecycle management (PLM) self-paced training programs, closed-loop hybrid learning pathways, live technical sessions, certifications, customization and integration tools to integrate with major enterprise learning management systems (LMS), learning management features and assessment capabilities.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Warren Harris, CEO & Managing Director, Tata Technologies, said, “We believe that ARAI has been at the forefront of automotive innovation in India and Tata Technologies has been helping redefine the automotive product design services offerings and skilling for engineers for over 20 years, including through its e-learning platform i GET IT. Collaboration is key in overcoming the skilling challenges of the rapidly evolving electric vehicle industry. By joining forces with ARAI, we aim to help fulfil employers’ requirements for highly skilled professionals by training the available talent pool, ensuring a sustainable future for our organizations and the wider automotive sector
Dr Reji Mathai, Director, ARAI reiterated company’s renewed commitment to skilling, reskilling and upskilling of the automotive workforce along with certification and research contributions over the past five decades and more. Director, ARAI further quoted, “Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India has been insisting ARAI to disseminate its vast knowledge & experiences gained from various research & development projects to the working engineers, students and academic staffs. New skill-sets warrants training to be provided to the workforce which is experienced in the similar domain but missing the nuances. Being amidst the whole infrastructure, ARAI has been the force to reckon with and has already contributed immensely”. The mission of meeting the huge requirement demands active and sustaining collaborations with other players with similar intent. Thus, he added that joining hands with Tata Technologies will signal the beginning of a new era.
