Tata Technologies and Synopsys join forces to speed up software-defined vehicle development
Press Release, 20 October 2025
Global engineering firm Tata Technologies has announced a strategic collaboration with semiconductor-design and systems technology leader Synopsys, set to accelerate the shift toward software-defined vehicles (SDVs). The agreement brings together Tata’s deep automotive engineering experience and Synopsys’s advanced virtualization and digital-twin technologies to help original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) address the growing complexity of modern vehicle architecture.
Under the partnership, both companies are already working with a European luxury automaker to deliver a blueprint for migrating legacy electrical/electronic (E/E) architecture toward next-gen software-defined platforms. The collaboration will span multiple critical domains of the vehicle: from powertrain, chassis and body control, to central compute units, gateways, connectivity, infotainment and electrification. Key focus areas include early‐stage virtual prototypes and electronics digital twins (eDTs), shifting software validation earlier in the process, as well as performance, power, safety and reliability analysis aligned with industry standards such as ISO 26262 and ASPICE.
As vehicles evolve into deeply software-centric systems, the new alliance signals how suppliers and tech vendors are adapting to meet OEM demand for faster time-to-market, lower risk and greater flexibility. According to Tata Technologies’ CTO, the collaboration is designed to empower automakers to deliver safer, smarter, more sustainable vehicles in a rapidly changing mobility landscape.
