SuperSiC (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of Zhejiang Jingsheng Mechanical & Electrical Co. Ltd (JSG), has commenced construction on its new manufacturing facility in Penang, Malaysia. This move signifies a step in JSG’s global expansion and highlights the increasing influence of Chinese semiconductor companies in the worldwide supply chain.
The facility, located in Penang, known as the “Silicon Valley of the East,” is crucial to JSG’s glocalization strategy and will serve as a hub for Southeast Asia. Covering 40,000 square meters, the project will begin construction this year. Upon completing Phase 1, the plant is projected to produce 240,000, 8-inch silicon carbide wafers annually. The project prioritizes sustainable development, emphasizing environmental protection and employee welfare.
Dr. Cao Jianwei, Chairman of JSG, stated that the Penang facility is a pivotal milestone in JSG’s international strategy, allowing SuperSiC to establish localized production in Southeast Asia and foster deep collaboration with Malaysia’s semiconductor industry. He noted this strengthens the global supply chain and demonstrates their commitment to customer proximity and responsiveness. This also aligns with China’s broader strategy to diversify its supply chains and reduce critical dependencies on foreign technology.
Moving forward, JSG aims to be a leading enterprise in semiconductor materials and equipment, promoting green and intelligent high-tech manufacturing. The Penang facility will reinforce JSG’s global network, accelerate supply chain development, and drive technological innovation in advanced materials and equipment, fostering local partnerships and contributing to the sustainable growth of the global semiconductor industry.
