Starship Technologies and Uber Eats forge global autonomous delivery partnership
Press Release, 24 November 2025
Starship Technologies, a forerunner in sidewalk robot delivery, has teamed up with Uber Eats to revolutionize how meals and groceries reach consumers. The collaboration will deploy Starship’s AI-powered robots, which operate at Level 4 autonomy and can complete deliveries of up to two miles in under 30 minutes, starting in the UK in December 2025. Expansion across multiple European markets will follow in 2026, with a U.S. rollout planned for 2027.
Starship brings a proven system—over 9 million deliveries completed in seven countries and a global fleet of 2,700+ robots covering 270+ locations. With Uber Eats’ reach in more than 10,000 cities, the partnership sets the stage for “commercial-scale” autonomous logistics, according to Starship’s co-founder and CEO Ahti Heinla. “Together, we’re building the infrastructure that will define the next generation of urban logistics,” he said. On Uber’s side, Global Head of Autonomous Sarfraz Maredia noted that this move is “an exciting part of how we see the future of Uber Eats,” combining Uber’s delivery platform with Starship’s scalable robotic tech.
The initiative addresses key cost and efficiency pressures in last-mile delivery by shifting from human couriers to autonomous systems on sidewalks and pedestrian zones. As the industry pushes toward automation, the partnership signals that robot-based delivery could move from pilot projects into mainstream urban service within the next two years.
