Samsara Inc. has unveiled its new Commercial Navigation solution built specifically for U.S. trucking operations, targeting the persistent risks faced by commercial drivers using standard consumer-navigation apps. Unlike generic mapping tools, this platform factors in commercial-vehicle restrictions — such as height, weight, hazmat status and clearance limits — and delivers turn-by-turn routing integrated into the existing Driver App. This approach aims to substantially reduce hazardous events like the 15,000+ annual bridge strikes reported nationwide.
What sets the solution apart is its seamless integration: navigation, hours-of-service (HOS) tracking and dispatch updates reside in one interface, eliminating the need for drivers to switch between apps. With accurate real-world map data sourced from millions of devices and global providers, fleets can now optimise routes, improve compliance and simplify in-cab workflows — all from the same platform. By directing trucks safely around compromised infrastructure and heavy-vehicle hazards, the offering supports both operational efficiency and regulatory compliance in one suite.
