Renesas launches ‘Renesas 365’ cloud platform to simplify embedded system design

12th March 2026

Renesas Electronics Corporation has announced the general availability of Renesas 365, a new intelligent cloud-based design platform developed in collaboration with Altium. The platform aims to simplify and accelerate embedded system development by bringing together device exploration, model-based system design, and early concept validation within a single integrated environment. Designed to bridge the gap between semiconductor hardware and system-level design, Renesas 365 allows engineers to evaluate components, simulate architectures, and make design decisions earlier in the development cycle. By hosting these capabilities on a cloud platform, the company hopes to address a common challenge in modern electronics development fragmented workflows that force engineers to rely on separate tools, manual datasheet searches, and disconnected development environments.

The first phase of the platform integrates more than 550 variants of Renesas’ RA family of microcontrollers, which are based on Arm architecture and widely used in embedded applications. Through model-based analysis and optimization tools, the platform helps engineers select the most suitable microcontroller based on full system requirements such as power consumption, pin configuration, peripherals, and timing constraints. Instead of manually reviewing multiple datasheets, engineers receive intelligent recommendations that help them identify compatible devices much faster. Renesas says tasks that previously required significant manual research can now be completed in minutes, helping teams reduce design time and minimize costly development iterations. The platform also connects with Renesas’ existing development tools, including the e²studio integrated development environment and the Flexible Software Package (FSP), allowing developers to maintain continuity between hardware and software development.

Renesas 365 also includes AI-assisted design guidance that can detect potential system constraints, recommend design adjustments, and assist engineers in resolving configuration issues early in the process. The platform records design changes automatically, enabling teams to revisit earlier hardware or software configurations when needed. Additionally, it supports over-the-air device management for RA-based systems, allowing developers to update devices even after deployment.

By creating an open and scalable ecosystem where third-party components and tools can be integrated alongside Renesas devices, the company aims to help engineers build next-generation connected products more efficiently. As embedded systems become increasingly complex across automotive, industrial, and IoT applications, platforms like Renesas 365 are expected to play a key role in accelerating innovation and reducing development timelines for software-defined electronic systems.

What Renesas 365 does

Renesas 365 allows engineers to design hardware and software systems together instead of working with separate tools and manual processes. Traditionally, engineers must search datasheets, compare components, and test system compatibility using different software platforms. Renesas 365 brings these tasks into one connected workspace.
