Qualcomm’s Snapdragon digital chassis solutions power Mahindra’s electric origin SUV range

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., a leader in the Indian automotive market, and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., announce today their technology collaboration to revolutionize the future of electric vehicles (EVs) in India. Mahindra’s first electric origin sports utility vehicles, the BE 6 and XEV 9e, unveiled on November 26, 2024, are powered by Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon^® Digital Chassis^™ solutions and set new standards in India’s digital-first, in-car experiences, marking the first deployment of the next-generation Snapdragon^® Cockpit Platform and Snapdragon^® Auto 5G Modem-RF solution in the Indian market.

This technology collaboration builds on a long-term engineering collaboration between Mahindra and Qualcomm Technologies, resulting in one of the industry’s fastest electric origin SUV development timelines—from concept to launch in just three years. By integrating Mahindra’s proprietary Artificial Intelligence Architecture (MAIA) with Qualcomm Technologies’ advanced automotive technologies, these vehicles meet the growing demand for connected, feature-rich, and future-ready EVs. Moreover, Mahindra has priced the vehicles to be accessible to a broad range of Indian consumers to help ensure that cutting-edge technology is accessible for everyone. 

Revolutionary Technology for the Indian Market
At the core of this innovation is the next-generation Snapdragon Cockpit Platform, which brings groundbreaking capabilities to Mahindra’s new electric origin SUVs. The Snapdragon Cockpit Platform is designed to power three extensive 31.24 cm infotainment system screens, augmented reality displays and AI-driven in-car experiences, setting a new standard for digital-first vehicles in India.  

• Advanced AI Processing Unit: The AI Processing Unit enhances the digital cockpit experience, specifically tailored to meet the unique needs and preferences of Indian drivers. This improves convenience and personalization, providing users with a more intuitive and seamless driving experience.
• High-Performance Computing: Equipped with high-performance computing capabilities, including over 230,000 DMIPS (Dhrystone Million Instructions Per Second), the platform helps ensure smooth and efficient operations for in-car entertainment and vehicle management. This means faster response times, smoother navigation, and a more intuitive user interface, helping to make every drive more enjoyable and stress-free.
• Immersive Multimedia & Interactivity: Powered by the Qualcomm^® Adreno^™ GPU, the platform delivers superior visuals, multi-screen interactivity, intelligent voice control, and support for high-definition video formats. This creates an engaging and seamless user experience, allowing passengers to enjoy high-quality entertainment and stay connected with ease, while drivers benefit from clear, real-time information and intuitive controls.

Additionally, the Snapdragon^® Auto 5G Modem-RF solution provides ubiquitous connectivity, enhancing safety and reliability by delivering real-time, mission-critical data. These solutions also unlock advanced features such as over-the-air (OTA) software updates, personalized entertainment, and a wide range of services, all tailored to meet the needs and price points of Indian consumers.
