Qualcomm and Tata Electronics join hands to produce automotive modules in India
Press Release, 10 March 2026
Qualcomm Technologies has partnered with Tata Electronics to manufacture automotive modules in India, marking an important step toward strengthening the country’s semiconductor and automotive technology ecosystem. Under the agreement, Tata Electronics will produce Qualcomm Automotive Modules at its upcoming semiconductor assembly and test facility in Jagiroad, Assam. The partnership is expected to support the growing demand for advanced vehicle electronics while contributing to India’s ambition of becoming a major hub for semiconductor manufacturing and high-tech automotive components.
The modules combine Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis system-on-chips (SoCs) with key hardware components to create ready-to-use electronic platforms for vehicle manufacturers. These modules are designed to power several in-vehicle technologies such as digital cockpits, infotainment systems, connectivity solutions, and advanced vehicle computing platforms. By offering pre-integrated modules instead of individual components, the solution helps automakers simplify development processes and reduce the time required to bring new vehicle technologies to market. As vehicles increasingly rely on software-driven features and connected services, demand for such integrated electronics platforms is rising rapidly across the global automotive industry.
The production will take place at Tata Electronics’ advanced OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) facility, which is currently under development and represents one of India’s most significant semiconductor investments. The facility will use advanced packaging technologies to assemble high-performance semiconductor modules that meet the requirements of modern automotive systems. Once operational, the plant will play a key role in supporting both domestic and international automakers looking for reliable semiconductor supply chains.
Executives from both companies highlighted that the collaboration combines Qualcomm’s expertise in automotive semiconductor platforms with Tata Electronics’ expanding manufacturing capabilities. The initiative is expected to help scale production of automotive electronics while creating new opportunities for local manufacturing and technology development.
With this partnership, Qualcomm and Tata Electronics aim to accelerate the production of next-generation automotive electronics in India, supporting the industry’s transition toward connected, intelligent, and software-defined vehicles while strengthening the country’s role in the global semiconductor value chain.
