Ola Electric begins mass deliveries of 4680 Bharat Cell powered electric scooters
News, 8 December 2025
Ola Electric has officially kicked off mass deliveries of scooters powered by its own 4680 “Bharat Cell” battery a major milestone for India’s electric-vehicle ambitions.
The first model to hit the roads is the S1 Pro+ (5.2 kWh). This scooter uses an in-house manufactured battery pack making Ola the first Indian EV maker to manage both battery-cell and pack production internally.
⚙️ What’s under the hood
- The 4680 Bharat Cell promises improved range, performance, and safety compared to older battery packs.
- The S1 Pro+ specs are impressive: 0–40 km/h in about 2.1 seconds, with an IDC-rated range of up to 320 km (in DIY mode).
- The scooter comes with dual-channel ABS and disc brakes front & rear, multiple ride modes (Hyper, Sport, Normal, Eco), and refined design touches — underlining Ola’s shift toward premium-grade EVs.
🌱 What this means for India’s EV journey
By bringing battery-cell manufacturing home, Ola reduces reliance on imports and aims to build a more resilient, localized EV supply chain. This could lower costs, improve availability, and speed up adoption crucial for reaching EV-mobility goals across India’s urban and rural markets.
The 4680 Bharat Cell rollout isn’t just a product update. It’s a signal that India’s EV industry is maturing from early adoption to self-reliant, vertically-integrated manufacturing. As Ola starts deliveries on this new generation of scooters, all eyes will be on real-world performance, consumer response, and how quickly other players follow suit.
