Octillion’s Pune EV battery plant goes fully solar

Press Release, 3 December 2025

The US-based battery maker Octillion Power Systems has announced that its Pune, India facility has completed a full switch to solar power becoming the company’s first factory in India to run entirely on clean energy. The rooftop solar panels now deliver roughly 545 MWh annually, enough to power the 8,200-square-meter plant completely, making the facility 100 % carbon neutral.

This plant builds next-generation battery packs for electric vehicles across India. With an annual production capacity of around 3 GWh of battery systems, the plant supports the country’s accelerating shift toward EVs.

According to Octillion’s leadership, the solar conversion is part of a larger sustainability drive — the firm aims to make all its India-based factories carbon neutral by 2027.

The green-powered Pune plant marks an important milestone in India’s EV manufacturing journey: it demonstrates how EV battery production itself can be clean and sustainable. As EV demand surges, such initiatives could help reduce the carbon footprint not only of vehicles on the road, but also of their manufacturing lifecycle.
