NTT Mobility launched to support rollout of L4 vehicles

Press Release, 5 November 2025

Japan’s telecommunications powerhouse, NTT, has announced the creation of a new wholly-owned subsidiary, NTT Mobility, Inc., set to begin operations in December 2025. With a capital base of ¥1.43 billion, the new company will consolidate the know-how and technologies that NTT Group companies have developed through more than 35 autonomous-vehicle demonstrations across Japan.

NTT Mobility’s mission is to deliver a one-stop service that supports the rollout of Level 4 autonomous driving (driverless under defined conditions) by offering vehicle procurement and management, software updates, maintenance and remote monitoring solutions. Celebrating NTT’s network and local-service strength, the unit aims to collaborate with transport operators and municipalities to standardise safe, secure operations nationwide. The launch comes as Japan’s amended Road Traffic Act now permits Level 4 autonomous operations in certain settings, and the government targets deployment in over 100 locations by FY 2027.
