News, 13 January 2025
Ministry of Power, issued guidelines for EV battery swapping and battery charging. According to the guidelines, power supplied to electric vehicle (EV) battery charging and swapping stations will be billed at a single-part rate that, until March 2028, cannot be more than the Average Cost of supplied (AcoS). As part of its attempts to encourage battery swapping as an alternative to powering EVs.
Additionally, according to the recommendations, the Distribution Licensee (Discom) will have to pay 0.7 times the ACoS during solar hours and 1.3 times the ACoS during non-solar hours for supplies to EV battery charging stations. The non-solar hours are the remaining hours of the day, whereas the solar hours are from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. For battery charging and switching stations, separate metering mechanisms must be created in order to record consumption and bill according to the applicable tariff.
