Mercedes-Benz to equip its CLA with Momenta’s ADAS in China
Mercedes-Benz is preparing to roll out its latest all-electric CLA in China, and it will come with next-generation driver assistance system (ADAS) co-developed with Chinese tech firm Momenta. The model is scheduled for launch in Q4 2025, and it will be the first Mercedes to feature this system.
The CLA’s ADAS promises comprehensive support across driving scenarios—from highway cruising to city navigation and even parking. Unlike traditional systems, this new setup aims to deliver seamless “point-to-point” assistance, allowing drivers to move from one location to another with greater confidence and safety.
To make this possible, Mercedes-Benz is combining its renowned safety standards with Momenta’s AI-driven technologies, including the company’s “Flywheel Big Model.” The system has been trained on Chinese road conditions, incorporating local traffic patterns and driving behaviors, which makes it particularly well-suited for the country’s often complex and fast-changing urban environments.
Extensive real-world testing and large-scale simulations have already been carried out, covering scenarios such as heavy rain, poor visibility, and other challenging edge cases. The aim is to ensure that the CLA’s new ADAS performs reliably in everyday driving as well as in difficult conditions.
By choosing the CLA as the launch vehicle, Mercedes is signaling the importance of China as both a strategic market and innovation hub. Over time, the automaker intends to extend this next-gen ADAS to more models, strengthening its presence in one of the world’s most competitive EV markets.
