Mercedes-Benz India to extend EV charging to all brands
Date: September 18, 2023. — Mercedes-Benz India has announced that its electric vehicle (EV) charging network will be open to consumers of other brands as well. According to the corporation, the goal of this program is to help the EV transition in India.
Mercedes Benz India has 140 stations spread around the country. Out of these 40 chargers are fast chargers with 180 kilowatts of power. Additionally, there are 60 kilowatt chargers that can charge an EV faster than ordinary chargers.
Mercedes-Benz India’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Santosh Iyer, said that they would like to a convenient charging experience to all EV owners in India. This will be available regardless of the brand. He stated that Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) has developed an app that any EV client can download to access the company’s charging network. He also mentioned that the software gives users access to an extra 150 superchargers across India.
The company also unveiled the new EQE 500 4MATIC electric SUV, which is priced at Rs 1.39 crore (ex-showroom, all India). The SUV is part of the company’s BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) range. It includes characteristics such as premium interiors, technology, and connection that are segment-leading. In addition, the company opened a new Customer Experience Centre in Chakan, Pune, which promotes the company’s products and services.
Mercedes-Benz India’s charging network expansion is expected to roll out in phases. The first wave of charging stations will become accessible to non-Mercedes EV owners within the next six months. This commitment to inclusivity and sustainability marks a significant step forward in India’s journey towards electrified transportation.
