Mangaluru Engineers gets patent for fast-charging system for electric vehicle

News, 4 November 2025

Engineers from Mangaluru, India — Kishore Bhat M and Shashikumar R — have developed and secured a patent for an innovative fast-charging system aimed at solving major pain points in electric vehicle (EV) adoption. According to multiple credible sources, their invention titled Electrically operated device with an internal battery refilling and split fast-charging system” introduces a novel architecture: dual or multiple battery packs within the vehicle are alternately engaged while one pack powers the vehicle and another recharges via an internal generation unit (fed by bio-fuels or renewable sources).

One standout feature is the “split charging” mechanism — each battery pack is divided into smaller modules, enabling faster, more balanced charging, lower heat generation, and an extended lifespan. The internal generation unit allows recharging without relying on external plug-in infrastructure, which could drastically reduce charging downtime and alleviate “range anxiety”.

The scalability of this system also stands out. While developed with EVs in mind, the engineers note it could be applied to drones, industrial equipment and portable power systems — broadening its potential reach across sectors. With EV adoption still hampered in many regions by long charge times and limited infrastructure, this innovation may help accelerate the shift toward cleaner mobility.
