Lotus launches Eletre in India

Date: November 9, 2023. Lotus made its debut in India with the release of Eletre, the company’s first electric SUV. The Eletre comes in three models: Eletre, Eletre S, and Eletre R, with pricing starting at Rs. 2.55 crore (ex-showroom).

The Eletre is a high-performance SUV that combines luxury, performance, and technology. A 112 kWh battery pack powers it, enabling a single charge to cover a distance of up to 600 kilometers. The Eletre and Eletre S models have a dual-motor arrangement that generates 603 horsepower and 710 Nm of torque. Moreover, the Eletre R model has a dual-motor setup with a two-speed transmission that generates 905 hp and 985 Nm of torque. The Eletre R has a top speed of 265 kmph. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 2.95 seconds, making it the world’s fastest dual-motor pure electric SUV.

The Eletre has a modern look as well as a digital cockpit. The streamlined front fascia features arrow-shaped DRLs, a split headlamp system, an active grille, and massive air intakes. A black-painted roof, flared wheel arches, and 22-inch alloy wheels distinguish the side profile. Furthermore, the rear end features a full-length LED light bar, a split spoiler, and a sloping roofline. A diffuser can also be found on the rear end. It is available in six different color schemes: Natron Red, Galloway Green, Stellar Black, Kaimu Grey, Blossom Grey, and Solar Yellow.

The Eletre’s interior is spacious and luxurious, with seating for four or five people. It comes standard with a 15.1-inch foldable OLED touchscreen infotainment system with Lotus Hyper OS, 12-way electrically adjustable front seats, a wireless charger, four-zone climate control, and a 15-speaker KEF sound system. Additionally, it boasts multi-color ambient lighting and an air purifier. It also has an advanced driving assistance system (ADAS) with adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot recognition, rear cross traffic alert, 360-degree video, and park assist.

Exclusive Motors sells the Lotus Eletre in India as the company’s official representative in the nation. The business has also announced that it will introduce the Emira, a mid-engined sports car, in India next year. The Emira will be offered with two engine options. The 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine generates 360 horsepower. The other option includes a 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine, which generates 400 horsepower.

With the introduction of the Eletre, Lotus enters the Indian market in an effort to meet the rising demand for high-end electric cars. India is presently considering a proposal to reduce import duties on British luxury electric vehicles (EVs) as part of ongoing negotiations for an India-UK free trade deal. Lotus has a renowned history of creating cutting-edge and powerful sports vehicles, including the Elise, Exige, and Evora. Furthermore, its new Vision80 plan, which intends to restructure the brand by 2028, the year of its 80th anniversary, begins with the Eletre.
