LG Display unveils two new OLED technology brands
Press Release, 24 December 2025
LG Display has introduced two fresh OLED technology brand names Tandem WOLED and Tandem OLED marking its first major branding update in over a decade. This move underlines the company’s commitment to showcasing the strengths of its latest organic light-emitting diode (OLED) innovations, which promise brighter, more efficient, and longer-lasting displays across a wide range of devices.
The new branding is designed to make it easier for customers and partners to understand LG Display’s OLED roadmap. Tandem WOLED will represent large-screen panels used in TVs and monitors, while Tandem OLED will be used for smaller and medium-sized screens such as those in laptops, tablets, and automotive displays. The “Tandem” name reflects a stacked OLED architecture where the red, green, and blue light-emitting layers are arranged in tiers. This structure boosts durability, improves brightness levels, extends panel lifespan, and reduces power use compared with older designs.
LG Display’s inclusion of the letter “W” in Tandem WOLED highlights its use of a white light source in the technology a key differentiator for large displays that helps enhance overall brightness and visual performance. This launch not only offers a clearer identity for the company’s display technologies but also celebrates a milestone since LG became the first company in 2013 to mass-produce large-screen OLED panels.
Both new brand lines will be showcased at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, where LG Display plans extensive demonstrations, including dedicated exhibits for large and automotive OLED technologies. According to the company, this branding will help communicate the core benefits of its OLED displays striking picture quality, energy efficiency, and flexible design options to a broader global audience.
Industry watchers see this rebranding as a strategic effort by LG Display to reinforce its leadership in OLED innovation amid increasing competition in the premium display market.
