Date: March 7, 2024. — KargoBot, a provider of autonomous driving solutions specifically for heavy-duty trucks, backed by the Chinese transportation DiDi, has been granted license in Inner Mongolia to conduct road tests for Level 4 autonomous heavy-duty trucks. The testing will take place on public roads in Ordos City, Inner Mongolia.
The license, issued by the authority of Kangbashi district, Ordos city, allows KargoBot to conduct Level 4 autonomous driving tests on open roads in the area. Level 4 autonomy means that the vehicle can operate without human intervention under certain conditions.
KargoBot equips its autonomous trucks with 4D imaging radars. These radars are based on the chipset solution of Arbe Robotics, a provider of next-generation radar technology. The radars, developed and produced by Weifu High-Technology Group, a supplier of automotive components in China, enable high-speed data processing. They also provide 360-degree perception and real-time intelligent decision-making.
Wei Junqing, the head of KargoBot, said that securing the road test license in Inner Mongolia was a significant recognition. The recognition acknowledged the company’s core technology, industrial capabilities, and operational management system. Furthermore, he added that the company would continue to collaborate with its partners and contribute to the application of Level 4 autonomous freight technology in Inner Mongolia and nationwide, creating additional value in the long-haul logistics sector.
