Indofast Energy establishes 80 EV battery swap stations in SCR divisions

News, 8 August 2025

Indofast Energy, a joint venture between Indian Oil Corporation and SUN Mobility, has successfully established 80 electric vehicle (EV) battery swap stations across 25 railway stations within the Hyderabad and Secunderabad divisions of the South Central Railway (SCR). The company announced on Wednesday its plans to deploy an additional 40 such facilities over the next three months, further expanding its network.

Of the 80 operational battery swap stations, 56 are located in the Secunderabad division, while the other 24 are in the Hyderabad division. These facilities are tailored to support various electric vehicle users, such as ride-sharing drivers, last-mile delivery personnel, and daily commuters on electric two and three-wheelers. By offering rapid and convenient battery exchanges, the stations aim to eliminate range anxiety and significantly improve user productivity.

Indofast Energy’s CEO, Anant Badjatya, conveyed the company’s pride in its collaboration with Indian Railways and its commitment to further expansion. R. Gopalakrishnan, SCR Divisional Railway Manager (Secunderabad), praised the initiative as a groundbreaking move for the SCR, highlighting its contribution to sustainable and efficient public transportation. He further noted that placing battery swapping stations within railway premises provides two key advantages: enhanced last-mile connectivity for passengers and a decrease in both emissions and traffic congestion in the areas surrounding the stations.
