India: Amazon India partners with Mahindra Electric to expand EV fleet
Amazon India on Tuesday said it has partnered with Mahindra Electric to strengthen its commitment to electric mobility in the country, as it looks to add 10,000 electric vehicles to its local delivery fleet by 2025. This partnership with Mahindra Electric is an important step towards India’s progress in the e-mobility industry to achieve its environmental sustainability goals.
Mahindra’s Treo Zor vehicles have been deployed in seven cities- Bengaluru, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Indore, and Lucknow–so far, with Amazon India’s network of delivery service partners.
The government’s focus to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles in the country with awareness campaigns such as ‘Go Electric’, and steps towards setting up of charging infrastructure with the FAME 2 policy has helped the company accelerate and chart its vision for EVs in India. The inclusion of these electric vehicles in Amazon India’s fleet also complements the Government of India’s focus on electric mobility and ‘Make in India’ EVs for a sustainable AtmaNirbhar Bharat.
