Imec to setup research center for automotive chips in Germany

Imec, a leader in nanoelectronics research, is collaborating with the State Government of Baden-Württemberg, Germany, to establish a new chip research center dedicated to the automotive industry.

The Advanced Chip Design Accelerator (ACDA) was unveiled during the ongoing Hannover Trade Fair. This center will concentrate on advancing automotive chiplet technology and has received a financial commitment of €40 million ($43.28 million) from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism of Baden-Württemberg.

Located in Southwest Germany, the center will work on developing cutting-edge chiplets, packaging, system integration, sensing, and edge AI technologies. These efforts are part of Imec’s Automotive Chiplet Program (ACP), designed to enhance support for the automotive industry by minimizing risks and speeding up the manufacturing process for automotive chiplets.
