Hyundai launches the all-new ELEXIO EV and unveils bold NEV strategy for China
Hyundai Motor Company, via its Chinese joint venture Beijing Hyundai, has revealed the all-new fully electric SUV named ELEXIO, explicitly designed for the Chinese market, and simultaneously rolled out a new energy vehicle (NEV) roadmap in China. The ELEXIO is built on Hyundai’s E-GMP dedicated EV platform and aligns directly with the “In China, For China, To Global” initiative, positioning this model as the first domestically guided effort under the Korean automaker’s China-first development strategy.
In terms of architecture and features, the ELEXIO comes with a family-friendly silhouette and premium touches: the interior enjoys a 27-inch ultra-thin 4K widescreen, tech-dense experience powered by a Qualcomm 8295 chipset, and a Cyber Eye head-up display boasting a high contrast ratio for improved visibility. Practicality is also front of mind: the cargo space starts at 506 litres and expands to 1,540 litres, there are 46 flexible storage zones, Dolby Atmos audio with an eight-speaker Bose system, and integrated health-monitoring plus fatigue detection systems for enhanced occupant safety.
This launch marks more than a new vehicle introduction — it signals Hyundai’s deeper commitment to electrification in China, leveraging its advanced platform and tailoring features to local consumer tastes while preparing for global expansion. The firm’s NEV strategy in China frames the ELEXIO as a precursor to a wider portfolio of EVs and new-energy models under Hyundai’s global electrification roadmap.
