Hero MotoCorp taps Excelfore’s eSync platform for OTA upgrades

Press Release, 18 November 2025

India’s leading two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp has announced that it is implementing the eSync over-the-air (OTA) update platform from U.S. firm Excelfore to enable remote diagnostics, data collection and software upgrades for its next-gen motorcycles and scooters. The rollout, which began in the second quarter of 2025 across more than 10 Indian cities, leverages the eSync standard integrated with AWS IoT Core to deliver a secure cloud-based update pipeline from Hero’s vehicles to the cloud and back.

According to the companies, this move allows Hero to maintain, refine and add features to its vehicles without requiring riders to visit service centres — a significant step toward a more connected mobility future. Hero’s COO highlighted that their OTA success rates “are now among the highest in the industry” and that the eSync standard has given them the agility, transparency and reliability needed to upgrade vehicle features over time. Meanwhile, Excelfore described the partnership as part of Hero’s vision to build “a connected future” and noted that eSync supports scalable, interoperable updates and data flows from cloud to vehicle.

For consumers, this means better user-experience, faster issue resolution and a vehicle that continues to improve after purchase. From an industry perspective, it signals that major Indian manufacturers are increasingly embracing software-defined vehicle strategies, aligning with global trends around OTA capability and connected-vehicle ecosystems.
