Henkel India repurposes diesel trucks into electric truck with 250km range

Henkel Adhesive Technologies, and a logistics provider has launched mid-haul electric truck program. This pilot project will provide connections between two major industrial routes:

  • Chennai to Pune, covering 1,321 km
  • Pune to Halol, spanning 713 km

Advancing Towards Net-Zero Emissions

This pilot program represents a crucial stride in Henkel’s efforts to reduce its Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon emissions, aligning with its global objective of achieving net-zero emissions by 2045. Henkel projects that a single round trip between Chennai and Pune will prevent over 1,212 kg of greenhouse gas emissions, highlighting the substantial environmental benefits possible on a larger scale.

The trucks deployed in this project are repurposed diesel vehicles that have been fully converted to electric powertrains, offering an economical and eco-conscious solution for mid-haul logistics.

  • Range: 250 km per charge
  • Payload: Up to 8 tons
  • Routes: Chennai–Pune and Pune–Halol
  • Emission Savings: Approximately 1.2 tonnes of CO₂ per trip
