FORVIA wins first-ever global deal with Hyundai-Kia to supply seat comfort solutions outside Korea
Press Release, 14 October 2025
FORVIA, a leading name in automotive seating technologies, has been chosen by Hyundai-Kia to provide advanced seating comfort components for the first time in markets outside Korea. Starting 2027, three upcoming Hyundai and Kia models destined for Europe and the U.S. will feature a compact four-way pneumatic lumbar support system made by FORVIA. This marks a milestone: it is the first time Hyundai-Kia has selected FORVIA’s comfort seating solutions for vehicles that will be produced and sold beyond its domestic Korean market.
In addition to lumbar support, FORVIA’s engagement has been expanded to supply seat frames and mechanisms, uplifting production at its Yeongcheon plant in South Korea. Stéphane Noël, Executive Vice President at FORVIA Seating, said the deal is a reflection of their growing collaboration with Korean OEMs globally, and proof of their ability to support automakers in international growth. FORVIA already has a strong long-standing relationship with Hyundai-Kia — spanning exhaust systems, seat frames, and other components in many export markets — and this latest contract deepens that bond. Approximately 2.8 million Hyundai-Kia vehicles in Korea annually already include FORVIA tech, while globally that number is about 4.6 million.
This breakthrough positions FORVIA more prominently in global vehicle interiors and comfort solutions. By providing both ergonomic lumbar support and structural seat components, the company is extending its reach beyond comfort features alone. With production ramping up in 2027, this move could set new benchmarks in how automakers partner with suppliers to deliver premium in-vehicle comfort, especially in markets where customer expectations for seating quality and adjustability are rising sharply.
