FIH Scores dual automotive safety & cybersecurity certifications from DEKRA

Press Release, 24 December 2025

FIH, a key automotive electronics arm of Hon Hai Technology Group (Foxconn), has earned two major international certifications — ISO 26262 for functional safety and ISO/SAE 21434 for automotive cybersecurity — from global testing and certification firm DEKRA for its Telematics Control Unit (TCU). This dual achievement places FIH among a select group of Tier-1 automotive electronics suppliers worldwide qualified to meet top-tier safety and security requirements for connected vehicles.

As vehicles evolve into more connected and software-driven machines, ensuring both functional safety — the ability of systems to behave predictably even when faults occur and robust cybersecurity protections against threats has become a priority for automakers and regulators alike. ISO 26262 is widely recognized as the global standard for automotive functional safety, while ISO/SAE 21434 establishes a comprehensive framework for managing cybersecurity risks throughout a vehicle’s lifecycle. Together, these standards are now foundational for smart, connected, and autonomous-ready vehicles.

The TCU a central communications hub that supports remote diagnostics, connected services, data transmission, and over-the-air (OTA) updates must meet exacting safety and security criteria because its performance directly impacts overall vehicle stability and risk management. By attaining both these certifications, FIH has demonstrated that its hardware design, software architecture, secure communications, and cybersecurity protections align with the stringent expectations of global automotive OEMs.

Dr. Wen-Yi Kuo, Vice President of FIH, noted that implementing ISO 26262 and ISO/SAE 21434 has helped FIH build a “comprehensive safety lifecycle management framework,” enabling partners to reduce integration risk, speed validation, and meet rising regulatory standards. DEKRA echoed this milestone as a testament to FIH’s strong R&D execution and quality systems.

As international regulations tighten including UNECE rules on cybersecurity and OTA updates suppliers with dual certifications are increasingly seen as preferred partners for automakers striving toward safe, secure, and intelligent mobility solutions on a global scale.
