United States. News, 8 September 2025
EnergyHub, a provider in grid-edge flexibility solutions, announced the acquisition of Bridge to Renewables (BTR), strengthening its position in the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem and accelerating the expansion of utility-managed charging programs.
With this acquisition, EnergyHub gains direct integrations with leading EV OEMs, expanding its ability to deliver seamless managed charging experiences for drivers while enabling utilities to scale their electric mobility initiatives.
EnergyHub currently provides Bridge to Renewables virtual power plant (VPP) technology to more than 80 North American utilities, managing over 120 programs that integrate EVs, thermostats, batteries, and other distributed energy resources (DERs). BTR adds significant EV telematics capabilities, connecting over 500,000 vehicles across 12 OEMs to low-carbon fuel standard programs and managed charging initiatives through embeddable mobile app experiences.
The acquisition brings several key benefits:
- Faster utility program growth: BTR’s OEM integrations streamline participation in EnergyHub’s managed charging programs.
- Expanded OEM opportunities: Manufacturers using BTR for low-carbon fuels can now easily access EnergyHub’s utility programs.
- Better driver experiences: BTR’s app-based tools let EV drivers optimize charging for cost and emissions within their OEM’s trusted mobile platform, boosting enrollment in managed charging programs.
“BTR has proven its value as the connective layer between drivers, EV OEMs, and DERMS providers,” said Seth Frader-Thompson, President of EnergyHub. “This acquisition strengthens our ability to deliver grid value and an exceptional customer experience, grounded in EV data, integrations, and VPP expertise.”
Jack Barrow, co-founder and CEO of BTR, added: “EnergyHub is the ideal partner to expand the reach of our platform. Together, we’ll drive the next phase of growth and innovation in the EV managed charging ecosystem.”
