Dongfeng Sharing granted autonomous driving licenses in Gansu
Date: December 15, 2023. — Dongfeng Sharing, a subsidiary of Dongfeng Motor, has received autonomous driving road test licenses from Gansu province. Dongfeng Sharing will able to test autonomous vehicle on a 13-kilometer urban open road in Lanzhou New Area. This road fitted with communication units, edge computing, and millimeter wave radar, among other intelligent roadside devices. The test track satisfies the standards for the most advanced level of self-driving technology, level 5 driving automation.
Dongfeng Sharing is the autonomous driving technology arm of Dongfeng Motor, one of China’s largest automakers. It focuses on developing full-stack solutions for intelligent connected vehicles, including hardware, software, cloud platform, and operation services.
Dongfeng Sharing has already deployed its self-driving vehicles in Beijing, Jiangsu, Hunan, Henan, Sichuan, and Yunnan. It has also introduced a number of commercial unmanned applications, including autonomous buses, sweepers, patrol cars, taxis, and logistics trucks.
The company stated that it will use the road test licenses to strengthen its autonomous driving technology and to investigate new scenarios and business models in Gansu province. It also intends to deploy over 300 autonomous vehicles on over 20 service routes around the province by 2025.
Gansu Province is one of the most recent places in China to encourage the development of self-driving cars. Moreover, it has constructed and released a comprehensive test and application demonstration platform for intelligent transportation and intelligent networked vehicles. It also gave the province’s first autonomous driving demonstration license, allowing the public to test self-driving cars on designated roadways.
