The first model under the upscale intelligent car brand jointly developed by Changan Auto, Huawei and CATL is expected to make its debut in 2021.
The model is said to be a mid-sized all-electric SUV and will be internally code-named “E11”. In all likelihood, the new model will ride on the EMP2 (efficient modular platform). The “E11” SUV is likely to carry Changan’s newly developed car body. Boasting composite materials like carbon fiber and aluminum alloy, the car body would endow the model with greater performance in safety and lightweight.
SAIC Motor is forging ahead with its premium EV project “Zhiji Motor” as well. The company last week announced the registration of Zhiji Motor Technology Co.,Ltd., the joint venture among SAIC Motor, Shanghai Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park Development Co.,Ltd. and Alibaba Group, only one month after the brand was unveiled.
