Cautio acquires BYTES to accelerate AI-driven two-wheeler safety innovation in India

Press Release, 22 December 2025

Cautio, India’s leading video telematics and road safety intelligence company, has announced the acquisition of BYTES, a deep-tech startup backed by Nikhil Kamath’s WTFund, IIT Mandi Catalyst, NSRCEL-IIM Bangalore, and Startup Karnataka. The move marks a major stride in Cautio’s mission to create India’s most comprehensive, intelligence-driven safety ecosystem one designed to protect every road user, especially the millions relying on two-wheelers daily.

India faces one of the world’s highest road fatality rates, with over 1.5 lakh deaths annually, and two-wheelers accounting for nearly 75% of these accidents. Cautio aims to address this challenge by integrating BYTES’ deep expertise in two-wheeler safety technology into its existing AI-powered video telematics platform.

BYTES has built advanced vision-based AI systems that detect real-time risks, optimize edge performance, and interpret complex rider behaviour on India’s dynamic roads. These capabilities align with Cautio’s philosophy that safety must be engineered from first principles—not added as an afterthought.

Cautio already delivers safety intelligence to autos, cabs, buses, logistics fleets, and enterprise transport across 50+ cities, analysing millions of video kilometres through its 24×7 Command Centre. With the BYTES team now joining Cautio’s R&D division, the company will expand its efforts in rider visibility, real-time risk detection, incident documentation, and human-in-the-loop safety response—focusing on the unique needs of two-wheeler riders.

“Two-wheelers are the backbone of Indian mobility and deserve the same intelligence and care that larger fleets receive,” said Ankit Acharya, Co-founder & CEO of Cautio. “By bringing BYTES on board, we’re accelerating our mission to build an India-first safety infrastructure that protects everyone on the road.”

BYTES Co-founders Aayush and Prakhar echoed this vision, noting that safety must be democratized across all mobility segments. The integration sets the stage for a more inclusive, intelligent, and human-centred approach to road safety—reflecting a shared belief that in India, safety is not a privilege but essential infrastructure.
