Blinq Mobility secures ₹4.3 Cr to accelerate battery-swappable EVs for urban India
News, 23 December 2025
Indian electric vehicle startup Blinq Mobility has raised ₹4.3 crore in a pre-seed funding round to fast-track the development of its battery-swappable four-wheeler EV platform, a move aimed at transforming urban mobility and fleet operations. The funding round was led by 8i Ventures with participation from IIMA Ventures, AIC Banasthali Vidyapith, and a group of angel investors, reflecting growing investor confidence in innovative EV solutions beyond traditional charging models.
Unlike conventional electric cars that depend on plug-in charging and long wait times, Blinq’s modular EVs are purpose-built to support rapid battery swapping, where depleted batteries can be exchanged for fully charged ones in a matter of minutes. This “plug-and-swap” concept is designed to dramatically reduce vehicle downtime a critical advantage for high-utilisation drivers, fleet operators, and ride-hailing partners in dense urban environments.
The fresh capital will be used to advance product engineering, build and test prototypes, develop battery-swapping infrastructure, and deploy pilot fleets in collaboration with commercial partners. Blinq also plans to expand its technical and operations teams, pursue vehicle certification and homologation, and validate autonomous swapping systems in controlled settings such as campuses and fleet depots.
Founded by a team of experienced engineers with backgrounds in automotive systems and EV development—including IIT Delhi alumnus and former CTO of Vecmocon Technologies, Nikesh Bisht—Blinq aims to carve out a niche in India’s rapidly expanding EV market by addressing two of the sector’s biggest hurdles: charging delays and operational costs.
With battery swapping gaining traction globally and the Indian EV ecosystem evolving swiftly, Blinq’s modular platform positions the startup as a promising new player in the pursuit of efficient, high-uptime electric mobility for commercial and urban use.
