bitsensing introduces Retrofit ADAS kit to enhance safety in commercial vehicles
Press Release, 10 March 2026
Radar technology company bitsensing has launched a new retrofit Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) kit aimed at improving safety in existing commercial vehicles such as buses and trucks. The solution is designed for fleets that want to adopt modern safety technologies without replacing their current vehicles. By combining radar sensors with camera systems, the kit provides drivers with real-time awareness of their surroundings and alerts them to potential risks on the road. This approach allows fleet operators to enhance vehicle safety while avoiding the high cost of purchasing new ADAS-equipped vehicles.
Commercial vehicles often face unique safety challenges, including large blind spots, longer stopping distances, and frequent interactions with pedestrians and cyclists in busy urban areas. The retrofit ADAS kit addresses these concerns by offering a range of driver-assistance features, including Blind Spot Information System (BSIS), Forward Collision Warning, Rear Collision Warning, Surround View Monitoring, Front Vehicle Start Alert, and Moving Off Information System. These features are powered by sensor-fusion technology that combines radar and camera data to deliver more reliable detection and warnings. Drivers receive alerts through an in-vehicle display that helps them react quickly to potential hazards.
Another key advantage of the system is its ease of installation. Unlike factory-installed ADAS solutions that are limited to newly manufactured vehicles, bitsensing’s kit is designed to be fitted into existing commercial fleets with minimal operational disruption. The package includes radar sensors, cameras, a central control unit running ADAS software, and a display interface that communicates safety alerts to the driver.
The technology is currently being tested in real-world operations through a pilot deployment with Koreawide Express Group in South Korea. The system has been installed in buses operating in Daegu, and the company plans to expand the rollout to hundreds of vehicles. Early results from the trial suggest improved driver awareness and better protection for pedestrians and other road users.
With this retrofit ADAS solution, bitsensing aims to help fleet operators modernize older vehicles, improve road safety, and extend the operational life of their commercial fleets.
Is bitsensing technology used in India
Yes, bitsensing’s retrofit ADAS technology is starting to be introduced in India, but it is still in early stages and mainly targeted at commercial fleets rather than private passenger cars.
In India, bitsensing’s retrofit ADAS technology is mainly being introduced through a partnership with IKIO Technologies.
IKIO Technologies is based in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea., with no current dedicated office yet.
About bitsensing
bitsensing is a South Korea–based technology company that develops advanced radar solutions for automotive safety, smart infrastructure, and healthcare applications. Founded in 2018, the company focuses on radar-based technologies used in ADAS, autonomous driving, and traffic monitoring systems to improve safety and situational awareness.
About Retrofit ADAS
Retrofit ADAS refers to installing Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) in vehicles that were not originally built with these safety technologies. Instead of being factory-installed in new vehicles, retrofit systems are added later to existing cars, buses, or trucks.
