11 August 2023: Ather Energy announced a completely refreshed product portfolio which will be built on the company’s best-selling 450 platform. The newly launched 450S and the refreshed 450X will be packed with new safety and performance features that are unseen in the industry yet, including India’s first DeepViewTM Display making its debut in the new 450S.
The 450S features 2.9 kWh battery, 115km IDC range, 3.9 sec 0–40 acceleration, and 90 km/h top speed. The vehicle comes with a host of new changes including DeepViewTM Display, new switchgear, FallSafe™, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), and coasting regen, which improves range by up to 7%. Users can use the Ather Grid fast chargers to charge the 450S at a speed of up to 1.5km/min. The 450X model retains all upgrades and adds a choice between 115 km and 145 km range versions. Both 450S and 450X users can opt for the Pro pack, enabling Ride Assist, Ather battery protect, AtherStack updates, and free 3-year Ather Connect.

The 7” DeepViewTM Display offers a 1000:1 contrast, auto-brightness, and 18-segment characters for excellent readability day and night. Moreover, the DeepViewTM Display’s on-board navigation offers 18+ directional options, enabling easy maneuvering, even in intricate 8-way roundabouts. DeepViewTM Display combined with newly designed switchgear provides one of a kind interactive experience, unavailable in current digital displays.
The 450S and 450X feature upgraded switchgear for better touch and include new switches: one-click reverse and joystick. The one-click reverse simplifies reversing, while the joystick enhances interactions for 450S and improves in-ride experiences for 450X.
The FallSafe™ feature, in all models, detects speed, orientation, and acceleration changes, anticipating rider falls effectively. The motor turns off, preventing skidding. Flashing lights activate, signaling others to approach and aid the rider in need. Further, Ather brings the new ‘Emergency Stop Signal’, a regulation in Europe, to the Indian market for the first time. This feature is designed to avoid accidents/crashes in panic-braking situations. Moreover, Ather users’ panic braking above 50km/h prompts blinking brake lights, granting riders behind more time to react effectively.
Further, to improve the battery range, the 450S comes with coasting regen feature that slows the vehicle down while at a steady coast (no acceleration and no manual braking) and recycles the energy back into the battery. Ather dynamically implemented regen, reducing it at low speeds for traffic maneuvering and increasing at high speeds for efficiency. The enhancements reportedly lead to reduced brake pad wear and up to 7% more range in various modes.
The innovative inbox-to-scooter feature uniquely sends destination addresses from various apps directly to the Ather dashboard, a pioneering move. In order to activate this feature, users must have the Ather app installed, and the location shared must be a Google Maps link only.
The updated trip planner offers optimal route suggestions and maps Ather Grid chargers. It also allows riders to choose their preferred charger, planning the trip accordingly. In specific areas, trip planners aid intercity travel by suggesting suitable Ather Grid chargers, enhancing trip planning experiences. Ather has installed 1400+ public chargers spread across the country, including on state and national highways.
Ather modified rear mud flap design to minimize pillion splatter when riding on dusty or muddy roads. It also provides additional protection for the rear mono-shock and brake calipers from muddy conditions.
Deliveries will start in a phased manner, starting with 450X with 2.9 kWh battery by 3rd week of August, the 450S by last week of August and 450X with 3.7 kWh battery in October.
