Tata Motors secures patent for its autonomous vehicle
According to recent news Tata Motors has secured patents for Tata Yu, an autonomous vehicle capable of transporting both goods and people to their respective destinations. The Tata Yu cargo van is focused on last-mile connectivity for both cargo and passengers.
The prototype features a dedicated central section for e-commerce parcel storage with automated sorting capabilities and a rear section which can accommodate two passengers. Passenger transport will function similarly to ride-hailing services, where users can book a ride through an app.
The Tata Yu is currently in the concept stage, created as a project at Strate School of Design in Bengaluru and sponsored by Tata Motors. It is estimated to take few years before it could potentially become commercially available, with a possible timeline of 2030 or later.
