Xylon delivers HIL data loggers to ZF for testing smart camera EyeQ6L
Xylon Delivers HIL Data Loggers to ZF for Testing and Validation of the Next-Generation Smart Camera.
Press Release
Xylon issued press release on 25 November 2024 that ZF has chosen the logiRECORDER Automotive HIL Video Logger from Xylon for testing and validation of their forward facing Smart Camera 6 (EyeQ6L).
Xylon’s logiRECORDER is capable of supporting several modes of operation in data logging and advanced simulations of various urban and highway traffic scenarios necessary for full confirmation of the forward-facing camera’s compliance with rigorous automotive and customer requirements.
Thanks to its flexible and modular architecture, the logiRECORDER enables direct data logging of all the ZF smart camera and radar interfaces, including the automotive LVDS video, CAN and Ethernet data, with no external converter devices. Furthermore, its ability to process the Mobileye EyeQ6L processor’s debug data over an Ethernet communication link and the TAPI protocol can alert the driver of an impaired camera operation during data logging, immediately preventing wasted test drive hours. The logged TAPI and internal camera data enable ZF and Mobileye engineers to make additional system improvements when necessary.
The logiRECORDER can replay all recorded road video and network data. It enables ZF engineers to iterate through different Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation scenarios in full comfort of a laboratory setup, and to inject recordings into the ZF smart camera’s vision processor while simultaneously recording the Mobileye EyeQ6L generated debug data.
HIL simulations with synthetically generated data offer better controllability and more economical testing, requiring fewer test-driven miles. The logiRECORDER allows the ZF simulation and test teams to stimulate their smart camera with synthetic data generated in a preferred simulation environment. Synthetic simulations provide developers with the freedom to test corner-case traffic situations until the control algorithms are fully perfected.
“We have chosen Xylon’s solution because it has already been proven in a multitude of global ZF projects based on the previous Smart Camera 4.8 camera model,” said Dr. Andreas Teuner, VP ADAS Engineering at ZF. “Its compatibility with ZF radars is unmatched, as well as with essential development and qualification tools like ZF Visual – an interactive real-time visualization of ADAS/AD system, sensor, and reference data – and ZF Annotate – a cloud-based AI service that accelerates the development and validation of advanced assistance systems.
“The ability of the Xylon team to quickly adapt to our new ideas and add new features to the existing platform plays an important role in our testing and validation strategy. We look forward to continuing our successful cooperation with Xylon in future projects where ADAS sensor and toolchain solutions can be offered as products or services.”
