Uber to have Self-driving car research center at Wixom

According to some media reports Uber will soon be opening its self-driving car research center in Wixom.  Wixom Mayor Kevin W. Hinkley estimated the investment to be around $2 million and he hopes it would create 120 jobs in the region. The company already has a Cartier center at Wixom which might be converted into a research and development center.

The propinquity  to major universities and other automotive companies might have led the company to choose Wixom. Uber had last year launched a fleet of autonomous vehicles in Pittsburg . The company is making strides in the direction of smart mobility forcing the other companies to rethink on their business models.
