Tesla to make product announcement on October 17, Autopilot 2.0 expected

Tesla is going to make an important product announcement on October 17 in a Tesla Event, revealed Tesla CEO Elon Musk via Twitter.  He also said that this event and the announcements were unexpected by the people. Industry experts believe that Autopilot 2.0 can be an important product to be launched.

Tesla’s Autopilot 2.0 is an improvised version of its semi-autonomous drive assist Autopilot, with an enhanced accuracy level by making use of radar and cameras. The newer version of Autopilot will be retrofitted to the cars already on the road.

Another prediction is about Tesla’s Model 3, the company’s affordable electronic car. It is being speculated that the company might also reveal further details about the electronic car, due to go on sale from 2017. Following the heavy pre-booking of the car, Tesla might choose to reveal the exact design and specification of the car in this highly anticipated event.

Elon Musk also confirmed in his tweet that there would be a separate Tesla/SolarCity announcement on October 28. Many are expecting this event to confirm the merger between the two companies has been confirmed. There should also be a number of product announcements, which will include the Powerpack 2.0, a scalable battery pack that uses new battery cells developed at the company’s new Gigafactory.

Musk is also expected to unveil details of a new Solar Roof project, which would see house roofs be made out of solar panels, rather than have separate panels installed on a traditional tiled roof.

It will be interesting to see what announcements Tesla has to make in the event which will be the company’s step ahead in the electronic and autonomous car segment.
