SK Telecom plans to commercialise two flagship connected car technologies in the second half of this year

According to some reports, SK Telecom has plans to commercialise two flagship connected car technologies in the second half of this year. The company will be unveiling the T RemotEye Vehicle to Everything, known as V2X, and the Remote Advanced Driving Assistance System, or Remote ADAS, at the upcoming World IT Show this week.

The two technologies are presently under development. T Remote I V2X’ is said to be a technology capable of delivering ‘real time’ information to the driver, that can not be detected by a car camera or sensor. To deliver the information it will be using networks like 5G or LTE.

‘Remote ADAS’ is a technology that warns the driver about the lane departure, the danger of the front car and the collision of the pedestrian through the special equipment that can detect the surroundings of the vehicle.

SK Telecom also will be cooperating with ‘Soka’ a leading car sharing service provider in Korea, and to test the technology of ‘Remote ADAS’ technology through test vehicles.

The two companies would complete the test and verification of ‘Remote ADAS’ solution by the end of July, The timeline within which both the technologies will be commercialised would depend on the verification results.
