PSA Group to carry out autonomous mode experimentations with “non-experts” drivers

PSA Group has become the 1st carmaker to obtain the French authorisations to carry out autonomous mode experimentations with “non-experts” drivers. Tests may start from March 2017 with customers behind the wheel of the Group’s autonomous cars as mentioned on the website of the company.

This new step is a significant move forward for the development of the autonomous cars technology of PSA Group. The demonstrators with “non-experts” drivers can travel on about 2 000 kilometres of French express roads.

Since July 2015, PSA prototypes driven by experts drivers have already done 120,000 kilometres on European express roads. From 2020, some vehicles of the Group will benefit from autonomous driving features enabling the driver to give the car full control.
