31 July, 2017

Nissan is introducing e-Pedal in its new Leaf models. To use it the drivers need to flip a switch to transform their accelerator into an e-Pedal. The e-Pedal can be used to accelerate, decelerate and come to a complete stop using just one pedal.

It is being claimed that e-Pedal technology is the first such one-pedal operation in the world and can be used to bring the vehicle to a complete stop even on hills. In a slow moving traffic and built up areas, it could provide a convenient one pedal driving capability. Speed will be controlled by pressing the accelerator as normal. The e-Pedal can be used to cover 90 per cent of a motorist’s driving needs.

The development of such technologies is part of Nissan Intelligent Mobility that is meant to make driving safer and more enjoyable. The company aims to transform the manner in which cars are driven, powered and integrated into society.
