Mahindra plans to build an all-new electric sedan with help from Ford

Telematics Wire had reported that Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd and Ford Motor had signed an MoU and are mulling upon a strategic alliance, now there are reports that Mahindra is in talks with its partner Ford Motor Co to procure a vehicle platform. Mint has reported that the Indian automaker plans to build an all-new electric sedan upon this platform.

In return, the Mahindra will be sharing its electric technologies with the American company, as the Mahindra has been one of the first movers in this segment has managed to build an affordable platform that can be used by Ford in is its entry-level cars such as Figo and Aspire.

Ford can also help the Indian company to enter the Russian and South African market, as part of its expansion plan. Ford that has developed a platform Ka and Ka+ on which it has built cars like Figo and sub-4 meter sedan, can be used by Mahindra to reach its goal of building the electric sedan.
