Eicher introduces Zero Emission Smart Electric Buses

Eicher Trucks & Buses, part of VE Commercial Vehicles making its entry in the growing Electric bus segment in India has introduced Zero Emission Smart Electric Buses.

In this development, VE Commercial Vehicles will integrate KPIT Technologies’ indigenously developed electrification technology, ‘REVOLO’, on its bus platform – ‘Skyline Pro’.

REVOLO can be applied to a large range of buses and other vehicle designs. It has a unique architecture which allows it to operate at a lower voltage. It also does significant regeneration to have the maximum possible range with the smallest possible battery. The system is modular and designed for Indian conditions.

Skyline buses are manufactured at VECV’s own state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The new electric, Skyline Pro Ebus marks a significant move in the Company’s direction to build smart and sustainable transportation solutions for India.

The collaboration between the companies is a significant development as both the indigenous companies have collaborated and developed the electric bus. It also signifies a change in the Indian automotive industry as electric vehicles are being considered profitable enough to be launched in the market.

The Indian government is actively pursuing a policy of inducing electric buses in the public transport as many of cities in India are grappling with the problem of pollution. The country envisages that by 2030 all the public transportation be run on clean fuels so the company’s entry of the market seems very timely.
