China Daily has reported that China’s automobile industry has formed a strategic alliance, in order to accelerate research and development in the field of intelligent and connected vehicles, while the government frames national guidelines.
The alliance is being led by the Society of Automotive Engineers of China and the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers and a total of 98 carmakers, universities and institutes have joined in.
The alliance will serve as a think tank for the country’s intelligent and connected vehicle industry and transfer new technologies into mass production. The alliance will also promote crossover collaboration, improve national industrial standards and encourage sustainable development.
China is emerging as a hotspot for intelligent and connected vehicles, and it has got strong policy support from the government. The presence of information technology with such companies as Huawei, Tencent, and Baidu, corroborates the country’s potential to grow in this field.
